Checklist for 2 weeks BEFORE your wedding day:

  1. Take the dress out of the bag and try it on at home! Do not wait until you arrive at your venue to look at the dress for the first time since your final fitting.

  2. While you have the dress on, practice putting the bustle up using the diagram provided. If you do not remember how your bustle works and/or do not have a diagram, please email us as soon as possible at info@tallgrasstailor.com so that we can walk you through the process.

  3. Further Alterations: If any last-minute changes need to be made, please email us as soon as possible at info@tallgrasstailor.com so that we can get you on the calendar.

  4. Steaming: Plan to make time for steaming your dress at the venue on the day of the wedding. Dresses often get wrinkled in transit to your location and will need a slight touch-up before you put the dress on. Veils can also be steamed the day of the wedding.

  5. Cleaning: Most wedding dress, especially those purchased new, do not need to be fully cleaned before your wedding day, spot cleaning any area that need attention will likely be sufficient. However, if you decide to have your wedding dress cleaned professionally, be aware that there is always a slight risk in this procedure such as beads becoming loose or possible damage to areas of the dress.

Do you make custom clothing?

We do not offer custom clothing for wedding dresses, women’s wear, home goods, curtains, upholstery, or accessories (shoes, bags, etc.).

BRIDAL FAQS

When should I schedule my bridal appointment?

As soon as you have your wedding dress you are highly encourged to schedule an appointment. Initial wedding dress fittings must occur at least 6 weeks before your wedding date. Click here to schedule.

What should I bring to my bridal fitting?

Please bring the exact shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day along with any specific undergarments and accessories. Shoe height is extremely important for hemming your dress.

What to do if you see any type of marks on your wedding dress:

a.    If you see any light blue marks that look like a highlighter; this is our blue water-soluble marker and can be removed with distilled or filtered water and a washcloth gently rubbed in this area. On rare occasions after the dress has sat in the garment bag for a few days or weeks the marks may reappear, but they are easily removable. If necessary, you may also try adding a small amount of regular dish soap to the damp washcloth.

If you see any black, blue or red marks that look like a pen, this is from our heat erasable pens and can be removed with hot steam or a hot iron with steam placed on this area.

If you see make-up, self-tanner or any other stains (such as dirt or marks from walking around during the fittings); a simple stain remover sprayed onto a damp wash cloth can be gently rubbed in this area.

If any of these issues persist, please email us as soon as possible at info@tallgrasstailor.com.
