Sewing Technique: Narrow Rolled Hem

Have you ever wondered how to achieve that clean, tiny hem on the edge of a chiffon or satin dress?

You are in luck! We have finally put together a complete tutuorial on how to acheive a perfect rolled hem.

This small hem is achieved typically by rolling a quarter of an inch fabric over followed by another quarter of an inch fabric resulting in a clean small him. This is a great technique to use on chiffon, silk, or any lighter weight fabric that is prone to shred. This is also a very common technique for anything from skirts to bridesmaids dresses.

In this video will cover a couple of different ways to achieve this hem. Feel free to try each of them out on different scraps of fabric to get a idea for which one is right for you.

Personally, I tend to switch up my technique depending on the tightness of the curve of the fabric and the weight and/or texture of the fabric itself. Different types of fabrics and different types of cuts will dictate different ways for successfully completing this hem.
