This little hand stitch is one of the most versatile tools in my hand sewing repertoire. The pic stitch can be used for such an incredible variety of functions; everything from delicate decorative stitching to strong under stitches, holding in place high function, high tension, areas of garments.

This style of pocket is a well-known detail of a beautifully tailored suit, usually adorning both the front outer jacket, and the inner lining of the jacket. In this video, we are going to learn how to measure and cut universal pieces for each step of the process and then install them as we build the pocket piece by piece together.

This alteration allows us to dive a little bit deeper into lined garments. Whereas unlined garments can just be taken in simply with darts in a single step procedure, here we will have to go in between the layers and navigate installing even-depth darts that match on either side. It is a little tricky, but a very fun one, follow along with me below as we create suit jacket darts.

Typically, the reason for the fabric rolls or wrinkles occurring is a good one; often those individuals with strong square shoulders and good posture are the ones running up against this issue. A great reason but still a problem that needs to be fixed!

We are essentially going to be loosening the upper back and the rounded collar shape to create a little more space and a little more give so the jacket will fit more comfortably over the shoulders, gliding up onto the neck.

Altering the suit jacket shoulders are so often requested because it can apply to truly any jacket, it is in no way gender specific. Being able to alter the shoulders of any garment heavily impacts the overall proportions style and general look of the garment, no matter who is wearing it!

This procedure will take you methodically step by step through shortening the length of a suit jacket. Beginning with the front panel at the bottom edge of the rounded lapel and moving back through one or two vents we will work our way step-by-step across the bottom of the jacket. Simliar to many tailoring procedures, this one has very specific steps and a unique order of operations where each step heavily impacts the next.

Even the sound of those words can set many brides' hearts a flutter, we know this can be a very nerve-racking part of the process. After the exhilarating and daunting task of finding your perfect dress, now it’s time to get the perfect fit, and we are here to help! Having professionals with many years and many dresses of experience is an obvious benefit, but many brides want to better understand the process of alterations themselves so today we are going to walk through each actual step that we will take during your fitting appointment and throughout the process of actually altering your dress once you have left it in our capable hands.

To begin, though all wedding dresses are incredibly unique, like many alterations we follow a very specific process, moving from each part of the dress to the next, making sure that we are confirming the fit in each area, beginning at the top of the dress and moving down to the floor and finally back to the train.

From the begining of your dress search, through purchasing, finding out lead times on dress shipping, alterations and getting the dress to the wedding venue on time, there are tons of important checkpoints to meet along the way.

We’re going to take you through every single step of the elaborate and exciting wedding dress process, from finding your inspiration, to shopping for gowns, all the way to your walk down the aisle!

In this six part series we are going to cover everything you ever wanted to know about your wedding dress from proposal to your walk down the aisle! Not only have been interviewed wedding industry expertes acorss the board from wedding salon owners to venue operations directors, we’ve also create follow-along worksheets for every epsidoe to help to track your progress through the series.

This small hem is achieved typically by rolling a quarter of an inch fabric over followed by another quarter of an inch fabric resulting in a clean small him. This is a great technique to use on chiffon, silk, or any lighter weight fabric that is prone to shred. This is also a very common technique for anything from skirts to bridesmaids dresses.

Though we are just essentially measuring, cutting and turning up the edge of the fabric, the equipment and the knowledge required to perform this procedure have taken quite a while to perfect, and I am excited to share these tips and tricks with you now!

Suit pants are the most common garment that we see in the shop as evidence by the fact that when you buy a full suit you can in fact buy two pairs of pants for every jacket. Suit pants are well loved, heavily worn and deserve to fit right and look good.

Though altering the sleeve length of a suit jacket is an extremely often-requested alteration it is surprisingly difficult, the silver lining of course is that there is an exact science and step-by-step procedure to succesfully completing this process.

We’re going to add sliders to straps, these types of sliders can be applied to any type of strap from a bra strap to a dress strap to suit vest adjusters as well as any kind of apron as you will see you this video.

This is a really great alteration because it’s extremely versatile; the seams can be let out and taken in as many times as the fabric will allow.
